Hello and welcome to Svårlurad!
An initiative by the Swedish banks against fraud

Are you scamaware?

Fraud is still a major issue in society, affecting people and businesses every day. Most scams start with an unexpected message or call from someone pretending to represent a company or authority. By gaining your trust – or stressing you out – scammers try to trick you into taking harmful actions. The best protection is to stay informed and updated on frequently occuring scams.

Good to know

It can be difficult to see through convincing scammers who are trying to trick you. Here are some tips to reduce the risk:
  • Hang up if the conversation starts to feel uncomfortable, stressful, or strange.
  • Do not use your bank security device or electronic identification (such as BankID) on somebody else’s request. Also, do not give out passwords, PIN numbers or security codes to anyone.
  • Do not click on links and or call unknown phone numbers based on someone else’s request.
  • Your bank will never ring you up and ask you to log in somewhere or to provide personal details.

Have you been scammed? Contact your bank immediately!

Always report attempted fraud to the police. Call the police on 114 14.

Common scams

Fraud can take many forms. Learn about some of the most common types – and how to avoid being scammed.
Telephone fraud
Someone rings and claims they want to help you stop a transaction from your account. It’s urgent, and they offer to fix the problem by gaining remote access to your computer.

Stop! Someone's trying to take control of your computer.

Text message fraud
You receive a text message from a loan provider saying that an approved loan is about to be paid out. If this doesn’t seem right, you're urged to call a number claiming to connect you to your bank's security department.

Don’t call! You can’t be transferred to your bank’s security department this way.
Investment fraud
You're scrolling through social media when an ad pops up featuring an investment “expert” sharing tips on how to make big money – quickly, easily, and with zero risk. All you have to do is enter your contact details and confirm via a QR code.

Think twice – does it sound too good to be true? Someone’s trying to get to your money.
